BTX's ProBlox™ Mult-Connector System Installed by Panasonic Systems Solutions Co. at the New York Mets' Citi Field Stadium Hits Home Run for BATS Video Coaching Program

HAWTHORNE, N.Y. - BTX Technologies today announced that its ProBlox™ all-in-one connector system was utilized by Panasonic Systems Solutions Company, a systems installation unit of Panasonic Corporation of North America, for the BATS video coaching program installed at the New York Mets' Citi Field stadium.

Panasonic's BATS program is currently used by 28 of the 30 MLB teams. The system consists of six to eight cameras located around the field, including above the dugout, home plate, and the bases. The cameras feed into the video coaching room in the players' clubhouse, where the team's video coach catalogs and archives all the video, pitch by pitch.

For the system at Citi Field, Panasonic installed five racks of equipment in the control room: three on one side of the room and two on the other. To interconnect multiple video and audio cables between the racks, Panasonic used BTX's ProBlox all-in-one connector system. In addition, BTX built the cable harnesses to Panasonic's specifications, saving both time and money during the installation process.

"This installation was on a very tight schedule, so we needed to configure the racks beforehand in our warehouse and transfer them to Citi Field, and ProBlox helped us do that," said Mark Varga, project sales engineer at Panasonic Systems Solutions Company. "Without ProBlox we would have had to make the cable terminations by hand in the field, which would have taken more time, drastically increasing labor costs and possibly resulting in increased wiring errors."

The ProBlox and ProBlox-D connector systems are cost-effective solutions for bundling numerous signals into one connector. ProBlox houses up to16 video and 26 audio/control contacts, and the ProBlox-D system allows for up to 16 video contact, 18 audio/control contacts, and two Cat5e contacts for data.

A top five finalist for the 2009 NEC "Best of InfoComm" awards, the ProBlox series of connector systems, including the ProBlox-D, is field-terminatable with low-cost tooling and custom configurable for thousands of combinations. These systems can be used anywhere HD video, VGA, HDMI, DVI, analog/digital audio, control signals, or data need to be fed to a single location. Built of rugged and durable components, and offering 75-ohm video contacts for a true HD signal, the ProBlox systems reduce the number of individual connectors, eliminate clutter, offer easy plug-and-play operation, and a yield a clean and professional finished look.

"BTX demonstrated the ability to quickly deliver a high-quality product under a tight deadline," added Varga. "We were on site with the racks on April 2 and had to have them operational by the first game on April 8. We were able to terminate the racks very quickly on location with the ProBlox system, and everything was in place for the opening pitch of the season."
