Tri Vantage Puts the Focus on Sustainability at IFAI 08

CLEVELAND, OH - Tri Vantage, an international supplier of specialty fabrics and hardware, is pleased to provide a variety of products that address environmental concerns. Fabricators have a choice when selecting materials for their work, and Tri Vantage recognizes the importance of offering eco-friendly options. Tri Vantage will feature the fabrics at IFAI EXPO in Charlotte, North Carolina, October 21-23, 2008 in booth #7087.

Dickson Digital Media Fabrics Safe for the environment throughout fabric life cycle Tri Vantage carries the Dickson line of EverGreen Fabrics including Jet Tex and Jet 220 products that pay respect the environment throughout the fabric’s life cycle in a number of ways. Dickson Digital Media are used to produce high quality images for indoor and outdoor signage, interior designs and displays.

Dickson’s EverGreen Fabrics are manufactured with 50 percent fewer raw materials and are free of PVC, phthalates, phosphates, formaldehyde and glycol-ether. During the production process, EverGreen fabrics have a lower energy fabrication cost leading to an 80 percent energy savings. Additionally, EverGreen fabrics do not release volatile organic compounds (VOC) that contribute to air pollution.

When it comes to shipping, EverGreen fabrics are packaged in recycled cardboard and because of the material’s light weight, require less fuel for transportation. At the end of the fabric’s lifecycle, it has been found that EverGreen fabrics decompose in the ground in half the time of standard PVC banner material. When incinerated, they produce 77 percent less carbon monoxide in the air (reduction of greenhouse effect) and 83 percent less acid gas (reduces acid rain).

Specifically designed for public venues such as museums and shopping centers, these revolutionary fabrics are extremely lightweight and designed for use on solvent and/or UV ink-based printing systems to produce clear, crisp, high-resolution images for a multitude of applications. The fabric’s grain and finish create a satin matte, effect without any glare which makes them the perfect solution for indoor applications with lighting effects: signage, stands, exhibitions, television and theatre sets, photo studios, museums, shopping malls. The fabric can also be used in short- and medium-term outdoor projects such as rolling displays, banners and worksite structures.

Vivitex™ Inkjet Fabrics - Environmentally friendly manufacturing
Other green digital media fabric choices at Tri Vantage include Sunbrella® Inkjet 10, Poly Oxford White and Poly Light White all part of Glen Raven’s Vivitex™ line of printable fabrics. Specifically designed for use on solvent-based and UV curable printers, the Vivitex line features five different weights and constructions for use in sign and banner applications.

Woven and coated in the U.S., no PVCs, heavy metals or formaldehyde are used in the production of Sunbrella Inkjet 10, Poly Oxford White and Poly Light White. The coating on the products is non-chemically reactive and none of the coating from manufacturing ends up in landfills. Unused residual fuels and solvents are recycled.

Glen Raven's Vivitex fabrics feature white pigmented inkjet receptive coatings suitable for solvent, eco-solvent and UV curable inkjet machines. Vivitex fabrics are ideal for indoor and outdoor applications and can be used to create banners, point of purchase displays, pennants, table drops, sales promotions and backdrops. Vivitex fabrics offer excellent strength and dimensional stability and are available in 54- and 60-inch rolls in 100 percent recyclable packaging material.

Created by a certified manufacturer compliant with all state and federal regulations, Vivitex fabrics are lighter in weight than typical substrates used in similar applications and therefore require less fuel for transportation.

Phifertex® 100% Marquésa® - Minimize environmental impact
One of Tri Vantage’s high performance casual furniture fabrics, Phifertex® 100% Marquésa®, is made of an environmentally friendly material that is lightweight, yet strong and durable for cushion applications. Designed to withstand high traffic areas and hospitality settings, the fabric is highly stain resistant and tolerates wear and tear.

The fabrics in the 100% Marquésa collection are composed entirely of Marquésa yarn, the only yarn synthetic or natural that is constructed from post-industrial waste by-product. The Marquésa yarn requires lower energy and water consumption, and the process yields little by-product, allowing the least waste and environmental impact of any synthetic fabric. The fabric is recyclable and can be re-extruded up to 10 times. The incineration of 100% Marquésa produces more usable heat energy than that of other synthetics, and the smoke produced during incineration is no more harmful than smoke produced by burning wood.

In addition to its environmental benefits, the 100% Marquésa fabrics have an exceptionally soft and luxurious texture and are available in 14 stylish patterns offering many complementary color combinations. The fabric is resistant to bacteria, mold, mildew and odor, easy to clean and flame resistant to California Technical Bulletin #117.

GREENGUARD® Certified Fabrics Third Party Air Quality Testing
Tri Vantage also supplies an extensive line of Sunbrella® and SheerWeave® fabrics that have been certified by the GREENGUARD® Environmental Institute (GEI) as low-emitting products. Sunbrella furniture fabrics and select SheerWeave fabrics have earned the GREENGUARD Certification which provides reassurance that these fabrics do not emit harmful air pollutants.

The GREENGUARD Certification Program is an industry-independent, third party, indoor air quality testing program for products and materials. The program identifies acceptable levels of chemical emissions, determines the most rigorous testing procedures and then certifies products and materials that meet the organization’s stringent criteria. GREENGUARD evaluates over 75,000 chemicals, including volatile organic compounds, carcinogens and reproductive toxins and tests on a quarterly basis to ensure continual compliance.

SheerWeave Styles that have been GREENGUARD certified include SheerWeave 2000, 2100, 2360, 2390 and 2410. SheerWeave fabrics were the first window shade fabrics ever to be certified.

Both Sunbrella furniture fabrics and the SheerWeave window shade fabrics also received the GREENGUARD Children & SchoolsSM Certification, which requires that products meet even more stringent standards to help limit pollutant exposure in schools and other settings that serve children and other sensitive individuals. Because the fabrics met the established criteria for low chemical emissions, they have been added to the GREENGUARD Online Product Guide (www.greenguard.org). This Guide is easily accessible and free of charge to anyone seeking products that will help protect indoor air quality.
