Have You Seen the Gerber Solara ion™ Lately?
Gerber Announces New Print Profiles and Modes, New Alignments and Calibrations, and Software Upgrades
SOUTH WINDSOR, CT - Gerber Scientific Products, a worldwide leader in sign-making and specialty graphics systems headquartered in South Windsor, CT, is proud to announce new print profiles, new print modes, and new alignments and calibrations for the Gerber Solara ion™ wide format inkjet printer, as well as upgrades in Onyx® software.
Gerber’s director of digital imaging solutions, Curt Brey, notes, “New profiles are being produced by Gerber Scientific Products every week to optimize and maximize color representation on the widest range of media.” These new profiles for the Solara ion, which allow the customer to print on an expanded range of substrates, are being developed in Gerber’s new world class profile lab to support the unmatched color gamut offered by the revolutionary printer . “Independent industry companies and profiling experts have stated that the Solara ion has the single largest color gamut in UV inkjet printing,” Brey added.
In addition, the Solara ion offers faster, higher-quality printing with its two new uni-directional print modes: two-pass uni-directional and 4-pass uni-directional. In addition Gerber has enhanced its 720 x 720 print modes. “New image-smoothing for Quality print modes eliminates gloss banding entirely,” notes Brey.
There are also new alignments and calibration procedures available as part of the Solara ion firmware Revision B within Gerber’s online software library- GERBERnet. This revision includes a new lamp delay feature to eliminate lamp warm-up delays during production printing, making the printer more efficient during longer work days.
For Solara ion owners who use Onyx software, the Onyx 7.2 upgrade offers the following expanded features and
functions:
- FDRP Enhanced dot pattern—a new error diffusion dot pattern that produces finer, smoother output. The results are most apparent in areas such as flesh tones and solid fill areas. FDRP Enhanced enables Onyx users to print at lower resolutions, thereby using less ink without
compromising image quality.
- Version 7.2 uses innovative dynamic ink separation technology that maximizes the use of the Solara ion’s inks while still maintaining accurate grey and spot color.
- Integrated RAL and HKS color libraries for automatic professional color standards matching are now standard. Version 7.2 also includes support for automatic spot color matching in color blends, for easy and accurate color matching of gradient logos and graphics.
These new updates for the Gerber Solara ion are strong additions to this already revolutionary wide format UV printer. The Gerber Solara ion has specially-formulated, ultra-flexible GerberCAT™ inks that are environmentally friendly, and a vibrant color gamut that makes the Solara ion one of the most versatile printers available today. Its extremely competitive price tag is backed by Gerber’s world-class sales and customer support, and coupled with Gerber’s high-quality, time-proven routers and digital finishing systems, such as the M Series, can provide a complete graphic printing solutions for the sign making and specialty graphics industry.
