Roland Announces VersaArt Series of Wide-Format Inkjet Printers

Roland DGA Corp., a leading provider of wide-format inkjet printers and integrated printer/cutters, has introduced the VersaArt RS series, the company’s newest 4-color wide-format eco-solvent inkjet printers combining the latest technologies from the company’s SOLJET PRO III and VersaCAMM lines.

Ideally suited for the production of large indoor and outdoor CMYK graphics, the 64” RS-640 and 54” RS-540 are the perfect production tools for signs, POP/POS materials, banners, posters, vehicle graphics and wraps. VersaArt printers also support soft signage and fabric applications.

The VersaArt series offers accelerated print speeds and delivers superior image quality thanks to Roland Intelligent Pass Control™ technology. VersaWorks 3.0 RIP software is included offering a host of new features and powerful productivity tools including support for Roland cutters which can be combined with VersaArt printers to produce print/cut graphics. As low-maintenance devices, VersaArt printers are Energy Star certified and carry Roland’s Eco-Label, an ISO 14021 Type II label certifying compliance with a company’s internal environmental standards.

Roland Intelligent Pass Control
First introduced in SOLJET PRO III models, Roland Intelligent Pass Control technology (patent pending) is a 3-dimensional system combined with optimized mask patterns designed to control the ink firing at the edge of each pass and deliver unprecedented imaging performance in all resolutions. The result is improved print quality and throughput while virtually eliminating banding. With Roland Intelligent Pass Control, VersaArt graphics reflect stunning image quality with exceptionally smooth gradations and flawless solid colors.

High-Speed Printing
Designed for productivity, the 64” VersaArt RS-640 prints at an impressive 136.7 sqft./hr. in standard print mode and 230 sqft./hr. in billboard mode. The 54” RS-540 prints at up to 131.3 sqft./hr. in standard print mode and 221.7 sqft./hr. in billboard mode.

VersaWorks 3.0 RIP Software
The VersaArt series comes complete with VersaWorks 3.0 RIP software, developed by Roland engineers for the company’s wide-format inkjet devices. VersaWorks 3.0 combines powerful features with an easy-to-use interface for outstanding results print after print.

Based on the latest Abobe CPSI engine (3018), VersaWorks 3.0 is more robust and precise than ever before and features advanced print server functions allowing users to manage up to four Roland inkjet devices simultaneously. VersaWorks 3.0 also offers support for Roland’s GX series cutters which allows professionals to manage stand-alone cutting operations or pair a Roland cutter with a Roland inkjet printer such as a VersaArt for print/cut applications. A new PerfCut function enables users to produce precision perforated cut lines as well.

In addition, VersaWorks includes proven productivity tools such as the Roland Color System for easy, precise spot color matching, the Max Impact Preset for richer color contrast, and Variable Data Printing. Other VersaWorks features include embedded ICC profile support, ink level adjustment tools, software proofing capabilities and advanced cropping, tiling and nesting options. VersaWorks supports Windows 2000/XP and Vista.
