Trophex 2008 Exhibition
A surge of visitors filled the hall when the doors opened at the Trophex show back in January. Stands and isles were bustling as people were keen to be the first to see the vast array of products that exhibitors had to offer.
There was a great atmosphere at the show; visitors had come from far and wide. Don Stirling from Stirling Trophies had travelled to the show from Northern Ireland. He’s visited Trophex every year for the past six years. Don attends the show to see what’s new in the industry, as in this fast moving environment technology changes quite considerably every year. Don also likes the fact that Trophex is a great opportunity to meet people face-to-face, rather than just speaking to them over the telephone. He can discuss any problems he’s encountered or any queries he’s got, allowing him to take home this valuable information and use it in his business. Don also praised TEN/EURO TEN as he found the magazine very informative.
Other visitors at the show included Karen Morizzo from Endersby Awards in Cambridgeshire. Karen bought the company (which was started in 1962), two and a half years ago. She works with her Mum who has been there for 20 years as she worked for the previous owner. This was her first time to Trophex as she has been on holiday when the past two shows have taken place. Karen was very impressed with the show it was better than she expected! Trophex enabled her to put a face to people she usually speaks to on the phone and it was the perfect show for her to pick up new ideas for her business and obtain new contacts.
There was a great mix of both new and old exhibitors at Trophex this year. David Pollard, UK Sales Manager at Signature Engraving Systems was really pleased with how the show went for him. Dave exhibits at Trophex every year. When asked about his thoughts on the show Dave said: “Trophex is well attended by the people who need to come to the show to keep their business up to speed.” He thoroughly enjoyed this year’s show, commenting: “It was well attended and well organised. It was great to see familiar faces as well as meet new people.” Other regular exhibitors included English Pewter. They had a very good show, despite loosing a lot of their stock in last years flooding they were very much back up and running. They bought a lot of new products to the show which were very well received and have already booked their stand for Trophex 2009. Andrew Sharp, Managing Director at Glenway also enjoyed Trophex, reflecting on the exhibition he said: “Hill Media are to be congratulated
on another excellent show. The turnout is magnificent and the quality of people who attended was superb.”
First time exhibitors to Trophex included Charmers; UK distributors for the Elsen 215TT Ribbon Printer and producers of the 5 jointed 25cm t-shirt bear. They had a great show and a tremendous interest was shown in their bears! They are keen to exhibit again in 2009 and may also exhibit at Euro Trophex in October. Golden Finishes also really enjoyed the show. They serve both the trophy and promotional industries and were showing two of their four divisions at Trophex; Readyrange and The Works. They were really pleased with the interest that their products generated, Cath Hill, head of the Customer Services team commented: “Trophex is an ideal market for us and just the right size as it allowed us to spend quality time with prospective customers.”
This year at Trophex there was a great opportunity to win the Roland Metaza MPX-80 worth £1795. The competition took place on the Xpres stand at the show, visitors were asked to answer five simple questions about this machine, fill out their details and place their answers in a box on the stand. Mark Robinson from Xpres made the draw on the last day of the show and the winner was Andrew Moore of Ready 4 Sport from Birmingham.
Andrew was very surprised to receive a call from Xpres giving him the good news; he was delighted to win the machine! When asked for his thoughts on this, he said: “Thank you very much to all at Roland and Xpres for this superb machine, it will be very useful and a great help to the business.”
Andrew visits Trophex every year as he finds it an essential show for the industry and ideal to keep ahead of any changes in the industry. Andrew has been thinking of purchasing an engraving machine for a while and at the show he visited the Xpres stand and was given a demonstration of the Metaza which he was very impressed with.
Hill Media Ltd organise the exhibition and publish the leading magazine for the industry TEN/EURO TEN Trophy and Engraving News. Trophex takes place at the NEC Birmingham every January. Euro Trophex takes place every other October in Maastricht, The Netherlands. The next Euro Trophex is from 11th-13th October 2008.
