Roland Introduces 2008 SOLJET PRO III XC-540 Printer/Cutter Featuring New Intelligent Pass Control Technology and White Ink Option

Roland Intelligent Pass Control Now Available To All XC-540 Customers

IRVINE, CA - Roland DGA Corporation, a leading provider of wide-format inkjet printers and integrated print/cutters, today introduced the 2008 SOLJET PRO III XC-540 print/cutter featuring revolutionary new Roland Intelligent Pass Control technology, a white ink configuration option, and other enhancements that deliver even higher levels of speed, print quality and versatility. With the release of the new 2008 XC-540, Roland is making the new performance upgrades available to existing XC-540 customers across North and South America (except Brazil) free of charge.

“Now every new and existing XC-540 customer can experience the full benefits of Roland Pure Print Performance including powerful new Intelligent Pass Control technology,” said Rick Scrimger, vice president and general manager of Roland’s Color Products Division. “This breakthrough advancement optimizes the critical software and hardware components driving Roland inkjet technology for even better image quality at the highest speeds and double the productivity in Standard print mode on vinyl.” *1

The SOLJET PRO III XC-540 printer/cutter is widely recognized as the industry's highest performing and most flexible production tool for a wide variety of applications including partial and full vehicle wraps and graphics, signs, POP displays, banners, labels, decals and more.

The new 2008 XC-540 features award-winning ECO-SOL MAX inks and is available in the following ink configurations: 6-color CMYKLcLm, 4-color CCMMYK, and 5-color CMYK+W featuring new, improved White ECO-SOL MAX ink. The XC-540 white ink configuration is ideally suited for packaging comps, decorative window displays and other graphics involving clear and reflective media.

DPI Award-Winning Intelligent Pass Control Technology
The 2008 XC-540 features new proprietary Intelligent Pass Control technology (patent pending). First introduced in the DPI award-winning SOLJET XJ series, Roland Intelligent Pass Control represents the reengineering and refinement of the XC-540 firmware and associated software to provide enhanced image quality through better dot placement, improved media feed compensation and better light ink control. Intelligent Pass Control optimizes Roland’s Precision Firing Pattern to produce even smoother gradations and solid colors, while achieving faster throughput with virtually no signs of banding at the highest print speeds. As a result, the 2008 XC-540 delivers greater productivity in every print mode and is twice as productive as the previous model in Standard print mode on vinyl*1.

The 2008 XC-540 also comes with powerful Roland VersaWorks 2.6 RIP software including the Roland Color System for spot color matching, Variable Data Printing, and the Max Impact™ Preset for richer color contrast, outstanding image quality and maximum productivity. Newly designed media flanges are included as well to enhance media tracking for even greater precision through long, unattended production runs.

Free XC-540 Upgrade for Existing Customers
With the introduction of the new 2008 XC-540, Roland is offering existing XC-540 customers a free 2008 Pure Print Performance Upgrade featuring new Intelligent Pass Control technology, new, upgraded media flanges and other enhancements.
