Digital-Media Network Localizes Health & Wellness Tips Nationwide
(NEW YORK) -- Fitness facilities are customizing communications with their members via a new state-of-the-art digital-media network now rolling out nationwide.
The Wellness Health Education Network -- or WHEN -- is an exclusive network designed to be installed in more than 5,000 fitness facilities focused on health and wellness, reaching more than 12 million health-conscious adults with highly relevant information when and where they want it.
"WHEN informs and persuades people to live healthier lives," says Rick Adler, chief executive officer of TSN Group, the network's owner and operator. "Just as important, WHEN allows each facility to communicate its own, local message right alongside the system's network videos, advertising, news feeds and other messages."
WHEN uses an approach it calls 'Proximity Marketing™,' which puts the screen at the center of a well-crafted marketing program that includes educational literature distribution, sampling and in-facility seminars.
Featuring 42-inch, flat-panel monitors, WHEN delivers a variety of health information, news feeds and in-house messages in a split-screen format. The displays are installed in a custom-fabricated wall-unit that also includes literature holders.
Designed by EnQii / Digital View Media, the screens employ a "Message Manager" system that enables local employees to create and post customized messages quickly and easily, maximizing the relevance of the content.
For example, using the "Message Manager," a local facility manager can create announcements of special events, provide profiles of key staff members or share member success stories. Messages can combine text, illustration and photographs. A selection of "stock" messages is also available.
Because the content is refreshed several times a week and news feeds are updated throughout the day, members are always seeing new and interesting information.

WHEN is also being installed in corporate fitness centers at companies including Cisco, Bank of America, Dow Jones, Cushman & Wakefield, Club EA and others.
Missey Moe-Cook, general manager of WHEN, says most people watch the screens even more attentively then they would watch television, and cites a recent survey of facility directors in which 98% said that the WHEN Information Center is a great addition to their facility; 96% said the content on the screen is interesting and 100% said the health and wellness feature stories are informative.
She also reports that the network is growing rapidly. "WHEN launched less than a year ago, and we have doubled the number of facilities on the network over the past 60 days alone," she says.
