Gerber Scientific, Inc. announces patent infringement suit against Roland DGA Corporation

Gerber Scientific, Inc. (NYSE:GRB), a South Windsor, Connecticut based leader in providing customer solutions to the world's sign making and specialty graphics businesses, announced today that it filed a patent infringement suit last December in Federal District Court in Hartford, Connecticut against Roland DGA Corporation, the distribution and sales arm of Roland DG Corporation of Hamamatsu, Japan. Gerber's patent, which covers equipment and a method for printing and cutting sheet feed material, was issued by the U.S. Patent Office in 1996 and was reconfirmed by the Patent Office in May of 2006.

The filing of this infringement action reflects Gerber's commitment to its shareholders to enforce intellectual property rights aggressively and to assure a satisfactory return on its investments in intellectual property and research and development activities. Gerber is seeking damages in excess of thirty million dollars ($30,000,000), and an injunction against Roland's sale of infringing products.
