Roland AdvancedJET AJ-1000 Wins the 2007 EDP Award for Innovation
IRVINE, CA The Roland AdvancedJET AJ-1000 104” grand-format inkjet printer has won the prestigious European Digital Press Association EDP Award for innovation in the “Wide-Format Inkjet Printers up to 2.5m” category.
The EDP awards recognize the best and most innovative digital printing products for the previous twelve months based on the following criteria: efficiency, performance, quality/price ratio, design and ease of use. The EDP’s judging committee is comprised of independent consultants, editors, engineers and other top industry professionals across Europe. Products launched in the European market from March 2006 through March 2007 are eligible for the award.
“It is an honor to receive this award which recognizes the outstanding innovation behind the Roland AdvancedJET AJ-1000,” said Rick Scrimger, vice president and general manager for Roland DGA Corporation’s Color Products Division. “The AJ-1000 brings tremendous value to digital printing professionals everywhere and particularly to those looking to expand their businesses by offering a wider range of printing services to their clients. At a very competitive price point, the AJ-1000 combines high-speed performance and advanced features that make it ideal for both high-volume production runs as well as on-demand jobs. The AJ-1000 is extremely easy to operate and maintain, allowing shops to easily produce grand-format jobs in-house instead of outsourcing them to competitors.”
AdvancedJET AJ-1000
As the fastest and most advanced grand-format printer in its class, the AJ-1000 achieves a maximum production speed of 968 sqft./hr. The AJ-1000 features Eco-Xtreme ink for brilliant 6-color CMYK+LcLm graphics. Eco-Xtreme delivers dense, rich colors and an exceptional gamut that together ensure beautiful, consistent prints every time. Superior ink bonding and rugged scratch and alcohol resistance provide lasting durability for images that maintain their quality outdoors for three years or longer.
To support long production runs and unattended printing, the AJ-1000 comes equipped with high-capacity 1 liter ink cartridges, an advanced ink delivery system that allows replacement of cartridges without pausing, and a heavy-duty media handling system for rolls weighing up to 220 pounds. The AJ-1000 also features VersaWorks, a powerful RIP software developed by Roland engineers to maximize the company’s inkjet technology.
Automated Intelligent Maintenance System
The AJ-1000 also features an innovative automated intelligent maintenance system which automatically performs all routine daily maintenance tasks. As a result, manual cleanings around the print head and capping station are required only every two weeks. Due to these and other intelligent features, the AJ-1000 is ready to print as needed and can be left unattended over extended periods of time.
MU-1000 Mesh Printing Unit
The AJ-1000 can be upgraded with the MU-1000, an optional mesh printing unit that supports unlined mesh media. The MU-1000 detaches easily from the AJ-1000 and features a built-in drainage system for easy removal of excess ink. Support for unlined media makes it highly economical to produce mesh graphics with the AJ-1000.
