Triveni Digital’s Chernock and Ramaswamy to Address Content Distribution and DTV Management at NAB2007
PRINCETON, N.J. - Triveni Digital, a subsidiary of LG Electronics, today announced that Triveni Digital Director of Technology Richard Chernock and Director Srinath V. Ramaswamy will be addressing NAB2007 attendees through presentations respectively titled, “TV Broadcasters’ Connection With the Mobile User” and “Redundancy in Metadata-Generation Systems.” The two presentations will offer new perspectives on managing and distributing broadcast data and metadata more effectively and profitably.
“TV Broadcasters’ Connection With the Mobile User”
Chernock’s presentation will be held at 2 p.m. on April 18 in Room S228 of the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) It will focus on the importance of the mobile user to TV broadcasters, and then explore solutions for delivering content over the broadcast channel to mobile devices, such as automobile entertainment and information systems. As growing volumes of data are being delivered to the automobile, broadcasters have the opportunity to establish new models for content distribution and revenue generation. Chernock will explain how ATSC 8-VSB technology and other techniques can be deployed to maximize broadcast potential and cost-effectively distribute data in a variety of applications.
“Redundancy in Metadata-Generation Systems”
Ramaswamy will address the topic of Redundancy in Metadata-Generation Systems at 10 a.m. on April 15 in Room S219 of the LVCC. The presentation will focus on the vital role of metadata (PSIP)-generation systems in today’s DTV plants, current FCC requirements regarding PSIP information, PSIP generator system architecture and typical broadcaster metadata-generator configurations, and solutions broadcasters can implement to ensure the integrity and continuity of PSIP data in their own digital transport streams. During the session, Ramaswamy will also provide an overview of possible approaches broadcasters can take to build redundancy into their metadata-generation systems to ensure uninterrupted broadcast streams.
“Today’s DTV environment presents broadcasters with exciting new opportunities and a variety of potential pitfalls,” said Ralph Bachofen, director of product management and marketing at Triveni Digital. “Our aim is to help broadcasters institute smart systems for maintaining the quality of their digital transmissions and understand the revenue-generating possibilities open to them through broader leveraging of local broadcast content and data.”
