Pioneering Digital Ink Developer Dr. Mickael Mheidle Appointed First CEO of Sawgrass Europe

CHARLESTON, SC, USA ­ Sawgrass Technologies, Inc., a leading global innovator of digital ink technologies, announced today that the company has appointed Dr. Mickael Mheidle as the first CEO of Sawgrass Europe. His appointment is effective immediately.

Dr. Mheidle is widely considered one of the preeminent developers of digital ink technologies for both textile and non-textile applications. Most recently, he served as the global head of new business applications for Ciba Specialty Chemicals. There, he focused on developing new solutions for such applications as inkjet printing of textiles and digital photography output. While at Ciba, Dr. Mheidle coordinated with partners Reggiani and Scitex Vision/Hewlett Packard the development and marketing of the DReAM, the first industrial digital printing system.

After receiving his PhD in engineering science from the University of Haute Alsace, France, Dr. Mheidle began his career in 1984 as a research and development manager for a French research center and then as international technical sales manager for a petrochemical company. He joined Ciba-Geigy AG in Basel, Switzerland in 1988. From 1988 until this October he worked, respectively, for Ciba-Geigy, Novartis, Ciba Specialty Chemicals, and finally, Huntsman.

With the appointment of Dr. Mheidle as CEO of Sawgrass Europe, the company also announced that Basel, Switzerland has been chosen to be the headquarters and manufacturing facility for Sawgrass Europe. The second-largest urban area in Switzerland, Basel is a major center for the chemical, pharmaceutical and financial industries.
