Taublieb Teaches Sizzling Special Effects at SGIA ’06

Hands-on workshop gives a comprehensive rundown on fantastic T-shirt effects

Fairfax, Virginia — When Expo attendees leave Charlie Taublieb’s workshop at SGIA ’06 (Las Vegas, September 2629), they’ll be better equipped to use special effect applications and more situated for a hefty ROI.

The three-hour workshop, “Special Effects T-shirt Printing” (September 29, 10 am1 pm), takes garment decorators through each step of printing special effects on automatic and manual screen presses.

“Having the skills to create special effects gives you the opportunity to get through client doors that wouldn’t open with a standard print,” said Instructor Charlie Taublieb.

Taublieb, owner of Taublieb Consulting (Greenwood Village, Colorado), has more than 30 years of apparel industry experience. His past SGIA seminars have taught countless garment decorators how to accelerate their operation’s earnings potential.

“From the artwork on, you approach a special effects job differently,” he said. So, in addition to a process review, Taublieb will tackle the mindset needed for special effects project, which includes choosing the right equipment and consumables and using high-density inks, gels and caviar beads.

He’ll also perform live special effects printing demonstrations on two presses. “I’m going to cover everything,” Taublieb said.

While the workshop is geared as an intermediate level course for production employees, Taublieb plans to offer solutions for art department employees and printers who outsource special effects work.

Students will receive a CD-Rom that contains past articles Taublieb has written on the special effects process along with images, photos and step-by-step directions.

Visit the Session Planner at the SGIA ’06 Web site for more information. Then register for the workshop.
