Cooley Weathertyte™ Covers Girl Scouts Building
PAWTUCKET, RI - When faced with a difficult awning application, one that
required material which could brave the heat and humidity of the South as
well as other environmental factors surrounding them, Fabritech
Incorporated chose Cooley Weathertyte for the job.
Mr. Edwin Grundy, owner of Fabritech, located in New Orleans, Louisiana,
knows very well the damage that the environment can inflict on awnings.
Surface fading, erosion from organic materials from trees and mildew were
just some of the considerations when determining the material to use for
the eleven Venetian-style awnings that would cover the building which
houses the Girl Scouts of America, located in Harahan, Louisiana. Mr.
Grundy wanted to use a material that would address all of these
environmental concerns, but still offer a "fabric" look to add character to
the building.
Fabritech chose an innovative new awning product called Weathertyte™,
manufactured by Cooley Sign & Awning Products. Weathertyte is a technically
advanced, totally waterproof material, which offers the look and feel of a
woven fabric but has all the benefits of a high performance composite
vinyl. Weathertyte can be decorated with conventional techniques and all
colors can also be easily digitally printed.
Mr. Grundy had this to say about working with Weathertyte, "The material
was very easy to work with and due to Weathertyte's 74" width, we were able
to railroad the material which saved fabrication time. Also, the material
was dimensionally stable when sewn and did not have a tendency to pucker.
We have had problems in the past with surface fading in this area using
other vinyl awning fabrics, however, we have had very good success with
Cooley fabrics".
